In this episode of The Web of Queer, we review the 2nd Doctor story The Enemy of the World, and the Big Finish 1st Doctor story The Cold Equations. For our review of The Enemy of the World, we discuss the ambiguous politics the Doctor has found himself in, and how he handles an uncertain situation. How does the packed story unfold, how do the characters interact with each other, and how does the story differ, now that all the episodes have been found? For our review of The Cold Equations, we discuss how they handled this story with only two voices. Did we like the hard science fiction setup of the story? Why were there so few women? How did we think the reveal of Oliver’s secret was handled?

In this episode of The Web of Queer, we review the 10th Doctor story The Unicorn and the Wasp, and have a discussion about the trope of killing gay, lesbian, and bisexual characters. For our review of The Unicorn and the Wasp, what did we think of the inclusion of Agatha Christie and the aspects of her novels? Did we think the tone of the story fit with the events taking place? What did we think of how the story handled the inclusion of the gay couple? In our discussion, we talk about the killing of gay, lesbian and bisexual characters, and why the impact is different from straight ones. How often does this happen in modern TV, what might it roots be, and how writers can work to correct the trope in their own shows?
