Doctor Who: The Web Of Queer
Ep 054: Thoughts and Feelings

In this episode of The Web of Queer, we review the Torchwood episode Greeks Bearing Gifts, and discuss experiences outside of one’s own orientations.

(Content warning: The review and discussion include mature themes and isn’t appropriate for younger listeners. If Torchwood isn’t suitable for you, then you should probably skip this week’s podcast.)
In our review of Greeks Bearing Gifts, we talk about Tosh and Mary’s relationship, and how unhealthy it is. Given the original plan for Mary to be a male character, how might the relationship have been perceived differently? We also discuss how Jack's description of a previous friendship is transphobic.

(Content warning: This includes some mention of sexual abuse. To avoid this at 1 hour 14 minutes skip forwards 60 seconds.)
In our discussion, we talk about experiences outside of one’s personal orientations. How these experiences might be perceived, and why they don’t change who a person is. How might a short term or long term relationship include such experiences, and why people may be afraid to discuss them?

Ep 053: A Tale In Two Parts

In this episode of The Web of Queer, we review the 4th Doctor story The Invasion of Time, and discuss romantic orientations and the split attraction model.

For our review of The Invasion of Time, what did we think of the Time Lords, and how they were portrayed? What did we think of how Leela’s story was handled? Did we like the exploration of the inside of the Tardis?

In our discussion, we talk about the split attraction model, and why separating sexual and romantic attraction is important. We discuss how this applies to asexual and aromantic people, as well as its broader applications for all identities. We also discuss the differences between behaviour and orientation.

Time Stamps:
00:00 Intro
00:46 The Invasion Of Time review
34:34 Romantic Orientations discussion
